Text of My Speech

Benjamin Franklin once said, “Energy and persistence conquers all things.” I am not always the most energetic person in my life, but when I remember this quote, it inspires me to be energetic and persistent.

Hello, I am Josh, a 14 year old freshman who attends high school, and who’s life is full of school and boredom. There are many academic goals I hope to achieve at this school. One of these is to get a GPA of over a 3.5 in my grades. Thus rewarding myself an hour of lunch that I would normally spend in FIRE. Another goal I have is to get into as many honors and AP English classes as possible. After High School I want to go to college somewhere in California and major in engineering because that is what I would like to be in my life.

I have many physical goals as well as academic goals. I would like to pass my physical PE exam in my freshman year so that I do not have to go to PE in my sophomore year. A major goal that I would like to achieve is to be able to run a mile in under 7 minutes. Another physical goal of mine is to achieve much better flexibility because my flexibility is downright awful.

I also have many goals that involve my family and friends. One of these goals is to expand my friendships. Don’t get me wrong my friends are great, but I would like to meet some new people. Another goal I have is to become more patient with my brothers because they can be very annoying and I frequently lose it with them. One more goal I have is to get along with my mom because I have often blown her off since I have started high school.

Although my goals don’t seem like the hardest things in the world to accomplish, I know that I will have to stay focused and work hard in order to achieve them.
